The unique expanding and tightening mechanism, which is the core of the well proven and patented PM Hoof Clips Regular and Special, makes it possible to adjust them to the very last millimetre after mounting. According to the requirements, you can tighten the hoof crack or even expand it, if the outer lamina is trapped in the crack.

The PM Hoof Clips Special have been developed from the PM Hoof Clip Regular, which has been sold more than 7.000 times worldwide. Several pre-drilled holes offer much flexibility and hold. The versions HW (heel wall) and the flexible BF (butterfly) have one expanding and tightening mechanism; the version TW (toe wall) is equipped with two mechanisms.  

The PM Hoof Clip Stable offers an additional fixing of minimal hoof cracks. There are two in the set, one with a convex and one with a concave notch for small adjustments after mounting.

There are holes in the stainless steel plates on either side of the tightening and expanding mechanism for a secure moun-ting of the PM Hoof Clip. Using these holes the PM Hoof Clip is additionally fixed to the hoof wall by provided screws, after the clip ends have been fitted in the previously milled splits in the hoof wall.

This additional fixation allows an expansion of horn cracks. At the same time this improved design guarantees a long- lasting, tight-fitting PM Hoof Clip that is reusable.

The PM Hoof Clip Special has been developed from the highly successful PM Hoof Clip that has been sold and used more than 5000 times worldwide. Both clips include the tightening and expanding mechanism that is the worldwide unique method to fix and tighten a horn crack or to expand it, in case that the outer lamina is trapped in a hoof crack. The mounting is very easy: First, mill a countersink for the expanding and tightening mechanism into the hoof wall, so that the PM Hoof Clip Special fits smoothly to the hoof wall. The PM Hoof Clip Special has several holes for flexible fixing and does not need additional milled splits for the clip. The arrangement of the holes makes it possible to adapt the clip to size and form of a specific hoof wall area. In most cases it is sufficient to screw the PM Hoof Clip Special to the horn with the provided fastening screws, but it is possible to use various adhesives that can be put between hoof wall and clip. Please mind that the expanding and tightening mechanism remains free from glue to ensure hassle-free adjustment. The additional use of adhesives with the PM Hoof Clip Special is sensible in cases of poor horn quality to achieve a better transfer of expanding and tightening forces.

It might be necessary to shorten the mounting screw tips in cases of thin hoof walls to avoid harm to the outer lamina when mounting the PM Hoof Clip Special.

The PM Hoof Clip Special is available in three versions and in a set (see exhibits) of all three types including mounting screws and hook wrench.

The PM Hoof Clip Stable offers an additional fixing for minimal hoof cracks. By the convex respectively concave notch in the middle it is possible to adjust the PM Hoof Clip Stable a little after mounting onto the hoof wall. Straightening the convex notch minimally expands the horn crack, while deepening the concave notch tightens it a little.
